Australia has passed through another significant solar milestone, as the rooftop PV Capacity tops 3GW this month. Queensland nudged the 1GW mark and states such as South Australia reached household penetration rates of 25 percent as of Nov. 30, 2013.
Australia had 1,145,798 rooftop PV systems, representing 3,030 MW of installed PV capacity, as of Nov. 30, 2013, according to new figures provided by Australia’s Clean Energy Regulator. The country registered 601 MW of new rooftop PV systems in the first 11 months of 2013.
In November, 2,087 new rooftop PV installations totaling 9.0 MW were registered under the country’s Renewable Energy Target (RET) scheme, down from 48.3 MW in October, 51.0 MW in September, 52.9 MW in August and 59.3 MW in July.
November’s numbers, however, are provisional and will be updated and likely increased in November’s statistics. The country had around 2.4 GW of cumulative installed rooftop PV power at the end of 2012 and of 1.3 GW at the end of 2011. © PHOTON
